A couple tips to get you ready for that summer bikini!

Eat regularly

No starving allowed! Plan your meals so you’re getting those 8,000kJ, and ensure that breakfast and lunch are on the menu every single day.

Burn kilojoules without realising it

We know you’re busy, so exercise by taking the stairs instead of the lift, riding your push bike instead of using the car, or walking wherever possible.

Choosy booze

At 30kJ per gram, alcohol contains almost double the kilojoules of protein and carbohydrates (17kJ/g each). If you have to, opt for a vodka, lime and soda (589kJ) instead of a piña colada (1,210kJ).

Sleep in

Research has found that too little sleep increases your appetite, while going to bed an hour earlier can reduce mindless late-night snacking.

5 Things a girl should always carry in her bag!

Aside from the obvious (wallet, phone, keys) there are a few other in-case-of-emergency
essentials that every woman should keep in the depths of their bag.

1. Mints
There’s nothing worse than bad breath… or a noisy gum-chewer.

2. Tissues
It’s something your mother always told you to take, but a pack of Kleenex sure comes in handy when you’re in the public toilet and you’re confronted with your worst fear: an empty toilet paper roll. Trust us on this one.

3. Perfume
Hide a multitude of smelly sins with a sample of your favourite scent… and give him something (nice) to remember you by as you drift past.

4. Hair tie
Sweaty hair plastered to your forehead just isn’t a good look. Always keep a hair elastic in your wallet (along with some bobby pins) in case you need to pull together an emergency up-do… and yes of course you’ll be as stunning as Nina Dobrev!

5. Painkillers
BYO chemist and keep a strip of Pandadol or Neurofen in your purse for everything from headaches to hangovers.

Ever felt like the wool was being pulled over your eyes?

No likes being lied to, but if you are unsure of someone’s truthfulness here’s some handy hints for detecting lies.

Body Language of Lies:

• Physical expression will be limited and stiff, with few arm and hand movements. Hand, arm and leg movement are toward their own body the liar takes up less space.

• A person who is lying to you will avoid making eye contact.

• Hands touching their face, throat & mouth. Touching or scratching their nose or behind their ear.

Interactions and Reactions

• A guilty person gets defensive. An innocent person will often go on the offensive.

• A liar is uncomfortable facing his questioner/accuser and may turn his head or body away.

• A liar might unconsciously place objects (book, coffee cup, etc.) between themselves and you.

Now you’ll be able to spot a liar from a mile away 😉

Watching that weight?
Never fear, you don’t have to skip on good tasting food!

Karen Martini’s delicious salmon and crispy flat bread salad is a delicious and healthy
meal to get you going as Summer comes closer.

Ingredients

1 round flat bread, cut into 2cm cubes
3 pinches ground cumin
1 tsp sweet paprika
Pinch salt flakes
100ml extra virgin olive oil
2 small Lebanese cucumbers
210g can pink salmon
250g punnet cherry tomatoes, halved
½ red onion, sliced into half-moons
Splash sherry vinegar
Tabasco, to taste
10 large pitted green olives, thinly sliced
1 bunch flat-leaf parsley, leaves picked and torn
½ bunch mint, leaves picked and torn
Juice of ½ lemon
Freshly ground black pepper, to season

Method

1| Heat a large frying pan over a high heat. Add flat bread, cumin, sweet paprika, salt and 1 Tbsp of the oil and cook,

tossing for 2 minutes or until bread is crispy. Remove from heat and set aside.
2| Peel cucumbers, then slice in half length ways. Remove seeds with a small teaspoon, then slice thinly.
3| Drain salmon and remove any small bones. Break up into large chunks.
4| Combine cucumber, salmon and remaining ingredients in a large bowl, then season with pepper.
5| Add bread mixture and toss to combine. Transfer to a platter and serve immediately.

Get prepared for summer!

No one feels comfortable in a bikini unless they are confident in they’re body.

And let’s face it…. we all want to feel like a celeb in our bikinis!

Celebrity personal trainer Lee Campbell has unveiled his top ten tips for the best bikini body workout.

To get the best bikini body – you need to combine all over body strength work with a strong cardio workout and good diet to melt away any winter pounds.

1. Abs – Elbow sit-ups (do in conjunction with the other abs work so you really feel the burn) – depending on your level of fitness try 15 – 30.

2. Abs – Plank (depending on your fitness hold for 20 seconds to 2 minutes).

3. Waist – Oblique twists (try it with a medicine ball or just with your hands – depending on your fitness 10 touches per side).

4. Chest, Biceps, Core – Off the knees push ups (make sure you have a good form and keep the core tight – depending on your level of fitness try 5 – 10).

5. Posture – Focus on your posture (even when you are not in the bikini) – elongate the neck, keep the shoulders back, keep the core firm – stand tall.

6. Legs, Thighs, Butt – It’s summer so for cardio take it outside try some soft sand walking or running.

7. Legs, Thighs, Butt – lunge walking (depending on level of fitness try 10 meters) and deep squats (depending on level of fitness 5 – 15).

8. All over fat burn – Try some skipping (its great for cardio) – depending on your level of fitness try skipping for 30 seconds to 2 minutes.

9. Food – Avoid white bread and other simple carbohydrates.

10. Food – Focus on eating lots of fruit and veggies – kick start the day with a bowl of fruit and low fat yogurt.
