The Rom-Com-Bomb

Home, Food & Body, The Dressing Room

This Means War has received some seriously bad reviews. The New York Post gave it zero stars, calling it a “rom-com bomb” that is “nearly totally laugh, chemistry and coherence free”.

The premise of the film is pretty ridiculous. Somehow, insanely hot CIA agents Tuck (Tom Hardy) and FDR (Chris Pine) are having trouble meeting ladies, so they sign-up to a dating website. Similarly, the beautiful and successful Lauren (Reese Witherspoon) is also desperate and dateless. What’s wrong with these freakishly hot singles that can’t meet anyone?

There’s lots of zany action sequences and no-way-could-that happen moments…but you’ll find yourself laughing. Especially at funny woman Chelsea Handler, who plays Trish, Lauren’s foul-mouthed bestie. Chris Pine and Tom Hardy show that they also have great comic timing (and action hero skills) as well.

This is the kind of flick that isn’t going to win an Oscar anytime soon, but if you know what to expect, you might enjoy it anyway!
